Browsershots

Creating a site isn’t that hard, but making it work properly on a few dozen different browsers, and most of them, with different behaviors depending on the operating system… now, that’s art! Since installing a few operating systems and running all those browsers to test your pages would really be a productivity killer, please let me show you something that’s going to make your life a lot easier…

… and that “something” has a very suggestive name: Browsershots. The idea behind [...]

Barcode Label Printer

Some say that products having any kind of barcode on them are marked with the so-called “number of the beast,” but I think they are more than paranoid. After all, no matter what number you take, after applying some math, you’ll surely end up facing the notorious “666,” if that’s what you are really looking for. Anyway, if we leave conspiracy theories aside, barcodes can be used successfully in various designs for Web or print, but if you don’t want [...]

Baseline

To be honest, I don’t think design can be done without using some guides, at least from time to time. Sure, most designers have a different way of seeing things than “normal” people, but I don’t think any of them has any guidelines inside the head… because this is today’s subject, and the tool to come with it is simply called Baseline.

Keeping typographic standards in mind, the guys from ProjetUrbain.com built Baseline with the goal of making website development easier. [...]

IxEdit

If I think how many programmers are working on various projects these days, it’s always great to find a standalone program or a Web-based tool claiming to be the first one doing… something, it doesn’t really matter what. After all, most people I know only think there’s room for improvement, and not for completely new things, but the team behind IxEdit comes to claim that the truth is completely different…

… and they simply do that by saying that their product [...]

myFontbook

When talking about font collections, I have plenty of them. The only problem is that I have to check my CDs and DVDs catalogue to find the locations of those archived font collections. To make things even more interesting, I have at least a dozen archives on different disks, so… Web-based services like myFontbook are clearly better than my old-fashioned approach!

To go straight to the demo mode, just click here. Pretty cool, don’t you think? Even more, you can register [...]

colrful

I usually enjoy writing about apps/resources that I can try by myself, but this time, something’s wrong here – I just found a very interesting tool, but it doesn’t seem to work. Since I think something may be wrong with my ISP, I hope you’ll be able to play with colrful, because this is something some people will really enjoy, and I don’t want to keep it aside simply because I bump into some kind of error…

If you want, you [...]

Fenotype Typefaces

Sometimes, finding a resource with less content, but only top-notch quality clearly compensates for the low quantity of material, and unless you’re one of those who are simply looking for sites with thousands of font sets to choose from, I am sure you’ll enjoy Fenotype Typefaces A LOT!

Currently, the fonts available on this site can be downloaded and used for free (you’ll be getting the demo versions, anyway), but if you’re going to put them inside some commercial project, it [...]

Kwicks

Some time ago, creating menus for a site was nothing less but art. I only said “menus,” yes? Good, because when talking about animated menus, we were already stepping into “Voodoo land” already, at least for most people using the Internet back then! Now, creating animated/dynamic menus has become a trivial task, and Kwicks is here to prove that.

Since this time there’s no big story to tell, let me tell you only this: Kwicks is a jQuery plugin that allows [...]

TextureZ

Since the weekend is almost here and some time has passed since we talked about a texture generator or free texture resource I found, now is the right time to take a look at TextureZ, don’t you think?

Sure, there’s not much to say about a free textures site, right? I can’t deny that, but those few words could make the difference between clicking that link above and discovering a great resource for your design needs and missing that chance. Here’s [...]

Spiffy Corners

Some time ago, I was talking about very simple tools that come with a single purpose, and those online behemots some love while others hate, like the SEOmoz tools package, for example. Now, the time has come for another really straightforward tool, namely Spiffy Corners, sometimes referred to as Rounded CSS Corners.

Since I already told you about the “nickname” of Spiffy Corners, the secret is no longer a secret – this online tool helps you easily create a box with [...]
