The features list looks pretty solid, including a built-in editor for color palettes, vector drawing tools, filters… not to mention that rich collection of templates that allows you to have a simple banner ready in a matter of minutes. Ssssss-mokin’!!! Other than all these, I think I can only add a minor drawback – the documentation is only available online, but since Giotto is such a great product, I think we can overlook this minor issue, don’t you think? After all, you only need to remember that Vectorian Giotto is one hell of a Flash tool, great for both amateur and professional designers and, since it comes for free… why not give it a try? The features set of this freebie doesn’t look bad at all, including a Clipart Browser, object snapping, the ability to install and use custom stencils and templates, support for HTML/PNG/Word/PDF export, as well as many other goodies that I am sure you’ll discover by yourselves. After all, the setup package is really small – only 600 KB, if you go with the Firefox plugin, or about 10 MB, for the Windows installer of the standalone Pencil version.

How does it work? Everything is very simple – you select the colors from the palette, then choose to search, and then view/download your favorites! Even more, you can paste a URL of some image, and colrful will look for similar ones on the Web!

To end this with a few words about my own experience, I should add that everything works great, only that I get a Flickr connection error when I try to preview a image. Funny that the program can connect to the site to look perform the color-based search, so… this seems to be out of my hand. Any clues?

While working with Divine isn’t as easy as 1-2-3, I am sure that professionals will find that turning PSD templates into WordPress themes becomes like a walk in the park with the help of this plugin.

Once you open your PSD template, you need to assign every WordPress element to a certain part of the image, and then set all needed FTP parameters to upload the theme to your WordPress-based site. Since the official project page has details about everything you need to know, including video tutorials, I will close this story right here, right now.

Compatibility: basically, this one should work with at least Photoshop 7.0, and the resulting themes, with any WordPress version… sometimes after some manual tweaking, of course!

Currently, vector primitives, images, text and animations are supported, but support for more advanced Flash features, like clipping layers, sounds, buttons, filters and effects is expected to arrive in the near future. That’s it, folks, but I think waiting for a few more months before dropping Flash is the best thing to do now, especially since SilverX is only free for personal use…
