To be honest, I can’t say I know anyone who managed to never break his/her own rules, but at least I know a lot of people who are struggling to avoid that as much as possible. I didn’t do such a thing, but one buddy of mine did it a few times – in the end, it’s not a fool the one asking, but the one paying, especially since we’re only talking about starting with some theme already available and changing it here and there, not building one from scratch! Well, today I’ll give everyone something to think about – Lubith can do a lot for free… so if you’re planning to pay for a WordPress theme, at least be sure you’ll get an original one, not just a painted old crow, all right? ;)

No need for any other introduction – Lubith is a Web-based WordPress theme editor that, unfortunately, only seems to work with Firefox and Chrome, but it surely gets the job done! By using it, you’ll save a lot of time and money, since it requires no coding, it’s completely free and sports an intuitive interface. Even more, if “intuitive” is not easy for you, there’s also a tutorials section on the official page, available right here. For now, it’s only one there, but we’ll surely have more in the future, I have no doubt about it…

Other than the above, I should add that, in case you’re feelin’ lost, the support forum will surely help you – it’s not really crowded there as I write this, but most issues reported get answers pretty soon and, in the end, that’s what really matters – to learn how to master Lubith as soon as possible, so maybe you can create some WordPress themes for others in need and ready to pay for it, right? Good luck with that and anything else you may have in mind!

Warm day today. But also a WP one ;)  What’s new in the WordPress kitchen ?

I would like to introduce first version of the WD3K Ajax Sliding Contact Form plugin.

This plugin generates nice jQuery powered sliding contact form in the left border of your WP blog. Contains client side validation and Ajax powered mailing, so no page refresh is required. Admin section allows you to configure all form labels including error messages and form status messages. The plugin is based on Contactable (jQuery Plugin) By Philip Beel.

Today I released the initial version of my new wordpress plugin named WD3K Sexy Social.

Plugin places animated social icons under your WP posts and let your users to share your posts on many famous social network sites. Currently following social networks are supported:

After I pulled half of my hair out and tried different steps I figured it out.

It was pretty simple to understand it, I was just under stress and that makes me do stupid things. So what’s the proper order…

  1. Create new directory in tags folder (dir name  = version number e.g. 2.1.0) in your WP repository
  2. Copy all files to this directory
  3. When you’re done with step above, commit all changes to trunk directory

It’s very important to follow these steps in proper order because if you won’t, it will mess up WP plugin update engine completely. One more thing… Don’t forget to update version numbers in your readme.txt and main plugin file itself.

Today I released initial version of the small WP plugin named WD3K Give Feedback.

What does it do ?

Well… This plugin creates “Give Feedback” button in the right bottom corner of the post page. After click, it’ll redirect user to the comment box on the current page.
I added there a bit of jQuery for setting transparency when you move your mouse over the button (animated).

Unfortunately, I’m not talking about spam – that’s only a minor issue. The real problem is that a lot of users also mean a lot of devices loading your blog – computers, mobile phones, tablets… so if you notice that a serious percent of your WordPress-based blog use mobile phones, having WordPress Mobile Pack at hand is as vital as having enough water with you in the desert!

According to the official mumbo-jumbo, WordPress Mobile Pack “is a complete toolkit to help mobilize your WordPress site. It has a mobile switcher, themes, widgets, and mobile admin pane” currently at version 1.2.4 and compatible with WordPress up to 3.0.5. After 101 user ratings, WordPress Mobile Pack has 4/5 stars and a total of 166,189 downloads, with 2,533 last week. Not bad at all, if you ask me…

… but in case you’re still wondering about all the components of this pack, here’s a quick roundup: a standard mobile theme, a mobile switcher, custom color variations, a set of advanced themes for Nokia and WebKit devices, device adaptation capabilities, a mobile admin panel, a mobile ad widget, mobile analytics, automatic listing on mpexo and a few extras that I’m sure you’ll be delighted to discover.
